New York is getting bigger and the nightlife is aimed to please the tourists, but there are still plenty of nightlife for the locals and travelers. NYC is known as the HUB of the Jazz world since all the greats made their names here and up and comers know this is the place to make it. There are some of the best and exclusive dance clubs in the world. There are plenty of lounge bars where you can just sit back, relax and enjoy a drink while chilling out to music. No matter your age you will find somewhere to party in NYC, every year there are hundreds of concerts held by famous musicians and countless comedy clubs full of well known comedians making your night an entertaining one.
My friends and I thought we would spend a long weekend in New York, so after arriving on Friday evening at the hotel we decided to get the weekend started with a bang, we had heard of a night club called 'Ace Of Clubs' so thought we would go there. It did not seem to be what we were looking for. It was a little loud and the drinks were kind of pricey. We decided that we wanted to find something else so we went back to our hotel.
When we got back to our hotel we ask the desk clerk if she could recommend a good nightclub and she told us to check ploose which is a directory for new NYC nightclubs and location. We entered our location and looked at a couple of nightclubs on the map. So we picked the closest one that said it had drink specials going on, since we had spent so much on cabs already, we went down and cabbed over to it. We watched a couple of videos tours so we knew what to expect and when we got there it was exactly like they showed on ploose. When we got there we got us a table ordered a bottle of grey goose and had a great time. "The Pink Elephant was the name of the nightclub. After enjoying the night we went back to our hotel for and went to sleep.

The next day was consumed by us being classic tourists, we wandered around Manhattan, eat in a few restaurants at random, headed to 5th avenue and eventually got back to our hotel as night rolled in completely burnt out. We decided we needed something a bit more low-key so we checked ploose again and found a cool little lounge nearby and decided to check it out. The name of the lounge was the 'Sapphire Lounge'. The decor impressed us, it was very relaxing and gave the impression that you were just chilling out in your own front room with friends. It even had gorgeous red curtains to help create the mood. The prices were reasonable and there was a very good DJ who played house music. We highly recommend it.
It was Sunday and we wanted to find us a sports bar and watch some football, so we ploosed again. I was REALLY glad we found this sports bar named Proof NYC. There is a HUGE TV that is 8 feet long--that TV was no joke. With scarlet walls and a lovely hardwood floor the bar itself was more than comfortable to hang out in. With numerous beer specials on that night and a great match to watch you can only imagine what we got up to. It was the final day of our little holiday so we took it easy, watched the game, eat some food and enjoyed our beers.
We didn't want to call our last night in NYC and end too soon so we went to 'Blue Note' a pretty popular Jazz bar to finish the night. As a big fan of Jazz I can say I was hugely impressed, it's the best Jazz bar I have ever been in and if you also like Jazz then missing out on this place if you are ever in NYC is a criminal offense. The musicians were outstanding, the bar itself wasn't too crowded and was wonderfully decorated.
In other words New York City has a VERY wide selection of entertaining things to do. Because it was only a short weekend away we had to miss out on the Opera or a Broadway show, however our next trip is already planned and we will certainly check it out then.
Get yourself over to NYC and find out why they call it one of the most amazing cities in the world.
